Come see the Creative Ensemble's new musical!

"WHAT YOU WILL" plays at Forest Hall in Chatham Mills on Feb 28 at 7:30pm

At Illyria Academy for the Performing Arts, Orisina (whose vocal flexibility somehow always gets her cast as the male lead) dreams of being with Olivia, her leading lady counterpart. Olivia, though, dreams only of being a Broadway star. When a new girl shows up, the whole school is forced to reconcile who they thought they were supposed to be with who they really want to be (and be with!), and the entire social order is thrown into disarray. Created entirely by the Woodshed Creative Ensemble, this new musical takes one of Shakespeare's most iconic gender swaps to new levels.

Laurelyn Dossett is a multi-faceted songwriter coming to us from Stokes County, NC.  Her songs have been recorded by esteemed artists including Levon Helm and Rhiannon Giddens of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. She has written songs for seven plays (Triad Stage and Playmaker's Rep) and her song cycle, The Gathering: A Winter's Tale in Six Songs premiered with the North Carolina Symphony. She is currently finishing an album of new songs, with M.C. Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger producing. â€‹â€‹

Kamara Thomas (she/her) is a Durham, NC-based singer-songspeller, ritualist, and multidisciplinary storyteller. Kamara's site-specific productions activate galleries, stages, and public spaces, weaving together music/theatre performance, land-based ritual, communal artmaking and oral history, as well as documentary, narrative, and experimental film.

Song Swap • Sean Kiely & Eleanor Buckland

Sean Kiely is a highly-recommended songwriter coming to us from Jersey City, NJ. His music threads a needle between americana, folk and jazz with an emphasis on evocative lyricism. Sean has supported legends such as Richard Thompson and Iron & Wine, and toured as a side-person with dobroist Abbie Gardner. His recent single, “This Is The Year” features Kaia Kater on vocals and banjo and previews a full-length album coming later this year.

Eleanor Buckland made her start as one-third of Lula Wiles, the Boston-based folk-rock trio that became an acoustic music scene favorite with their three critically acclaimed albums. Now living in Durham, Eleanor has turned to a new page as a solo artist. Her debut album You Don’t Have To Know sets her deeply personal songs against inventive indie rock arrangements that nod to contemporary influences like Sheryl Crow without losing touch with her beginnings playing bluegrass fiddle music.
